A couple of Free Windows Utilities
Thought I would share both of these. Both are free and very simple to use. Both of these tools are geared more for Windows 7, but the first would work in XP and Vista as well. The first is a utility called Fences. (Click here to check it out) It is a free tool to organize your desktop into different categories called fences. If you like having things organized and categorized, this is the app for you. Here is a screenshot of how it works. (note the screenshot is taken from a system running Windows Vista)
The second program is kind of similar, but deals with the pinning of programs to the task bar ability of Windows 7. There is only so much room to dock different programs. 7Stacks takes care of that problem and also gives you a convenient way to store multiple shortcuts into one icon. Simple click the icon and a whole list, or “stack” pops up for you to choose from. Click here for 7Stacks.

Set Windows 7 as a WiFi HotSpot
Saw this article online and thought I would share it with anyone who was interested. Looks pretty simple. It may come in handy at some point.

Ditch your Cable/Satellite!
Recently we dropped Dish Network. We signed up for Netflix which is only $8.99 a month and also use a service called PlayOn which both run through the Wii. Both services will work on Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. You probably already know about Netflix and their unlimited streaming, but PlayOn lets you play Hulu and other streaming websites on your TV as well. Here is a screenshot of some of the things you can watch through PlayOn. They recently changed their licensing so it is a little more expensive than when we got it almost a year ago. Click here to check it out.

InfoLinks
The links are part of a pay per click advertising program called Infolinks. Infolinks is an In Text advertising service: they take my text and create links within it. If you hover with your mouse over these double underlined links, you will see a small dialog box containing advertisement related to the text marked. You can choose to either move the mouse away and go on with your browsing, or to press on the box and go to the ad page which is relevant to the text. Click here to learn more about Infolinks Double Underline Link Ads.

Windows Live Writer
I have been using this program for about a year now. I am not a huge fan of the little window that Blogger gives you and how it has limited options when it comes to fonts and pictures. With Windows Live Writer you can customize just about everything in your Blog post. You can also set it up for multiple Blogs so you don’t have to switch back and forth between Blogs to add new posts. There is simply a drop down menu (circled below) that lets you choose which Blog to post to. The download for Live Writer (the complete software is named Windows Live Essentials) includes some other software for Windows as well including Photo Gallery, Messenger, Movie Maker and Mail. Simply uncheck the programs you don’t want to install. Also, it works with sites other than Blogger. Check it out by clicking here. If you Blog a lot or have multiple Blogs I think you will enjoy this software.

Cramster
This semester I have been using a website called cramster. It has saved my butt. They have a bunch of different text books in their data base where experts and other students have answered problems from the book in a step by step format. When the TAs don’t help, Cramster does. Check it out, or tell other people about it if you think they could use it. Click here You can get the odd questions for free, but to view all of the solutions you have to sign up for $9.99 a month. Here is a screen shot of one of the odds.
